    36" Mini Excavator Brush Cutter

Posted by Joshua Wellman on Jul 11th 2026

Did a lot of research on brush cutters before buying, looking at mulching heads, flail mowers and rotary cutters. I have no use for trying to cut down trees, like many of the brands videos show. That just leaves jagged stumps behind. I'd rather just pull the entire tree and leave the area clean. I needed a cutter for heavy brush, and tall grass. The rotary style seemed to best suit my uses. I received the Express Steel brush cutter in a timely manner via freight truck. No damage or missing parts, though it had become loose on the pallet. I gave the attachment a check-over, as I always do. Found that the nuts on the all thread attaching the hydraulic motor to the cutter deck were looser than I would expect for an attachment that will see a lot of vibration. I applied some lock-tite and re-torqued each of them. All other fasteners on the attachment were solid. The brush cutter mounted easily to my excavator, no drama with hydraulics. Test ran it at my shop for several hours with zero issues. The unit is stout and well designed. It's manageable on my 40 series machine, but I'd rather have it mounted on a 55. My goal was to access tight areas, and the 40 does the just fine, just can't be a sloppy operator. I've used the brush cutter on several jobs since, and continue to have zero issues. Well built product for a very fair price. Not my first Express Steel purchase, and I will continue to use their products.

Construction is heavy duty and performance is very good. Very happy with this product and would recommend to others, especially at this price point.
